The Luckiest Chinese Zodiac Signs of 2027, Ranked

Chinese New Year 2027 falls on Saturday, February 6.

The Horse has the luckiest 2027 of the twelve Chinese zodiac signs, the Rabbit and the Pig come next, and the Ox has the most demanding year. Every place in this league table comes from one published rule, applied to the classical relations between each sign's branch and the year pillar 丁未.

Read it like a seasonal forecast: it shows where support and pressure tend to fall, month by month, not what anyone does with them.

How the ranking works

The rule has three steps. First, each sign is grouped by how its branch meets the year branch 未: a Six Harmony (六合) comes first, then the Three Harmony triad (三合), then no tie at all, then the own year (本命年), then a Six Harm (六害), then a punishment with a destruction (刑 and 破), and last a clash with a punishment (冲 and 刑).

Second, signs in the same group are ordered by how the year's fire stem 丁 meets the sign's element: earth that the fire feeds comes first, then the same fire, then wood that feeds the fire, then water that checks it, and last metal that the fire works on. Third, if two signs are still level, a Noble Helper branch (天乙贵人) of 丁, the Pig or the Rooster, goes ahead.

The 12 signs ranked for 2027

RankSignRelation to the yearBest monthsHardest month
Rank 1 of 12Horse in 2027Relation to the yearSix Harmony (六合)Not in Tai SuiBest monthsFebruary 4 to March 5July 7 to August 7October 8 to November 6Hardest monthDecember 7 to January 5, 2028
WhyThe Horse leads because 午 and 未 form the Goat's only Six Harmony (六合), and no other sign shares that first group. After its own year in 2026, the Horse meets a year that cooperates with it. The one soft spot is its own month, June 6 to July 6, when 午 meets 午, a self-punishing pair.
Rank 2 of 12Rabbit in 2027Relation to the yearThree Harmony (三合)Not in Tai SuiBest monthsJuly 7 to August 7October 8 to November 6November 7 to December 6Hardest monthSeptember 8 to October 7
WhyWith the Goat and the Pig, the Rabbit forms the wood triad 亥卯未 (三合), and the element step separates it from the Pig: the Rabbit's wood feeds the year's fire, a giving tie, while the Pig's water checks it. Its best stretch runs from October 8 to December 6, two supportive months in a row.
Rank 3 of 12Pig in 2027Relation to the yearThree Harmony (三合)Not in Tai SuiBest monthsMarch 6 to April 4July 7 to August 7Hardest monthMay 6 to June 5
WhyThe Pig takes the triad group's second seat. Its branch 亥 is a Noble Helper of the year stem 丁, but the rule reads that tie only as a last tie-break, after the element step has put the Rabbit's wood ahead of the Pig's water. Its hardest month is May 6 to June 5.
Rank 4 of 12Dragon in 2027Relation to the yearNot in Tai SuiBest monthsAugust 8 to September 7September 8 to October 7December 7 to January 5, 2028Hardest monthOctober 8 to November 6
WhyThe Dragon heads the five signs with no tie to 未, because the year's fire feeds the Dragon's earth: among the unattached signs, it is the one the year supports. That puts it fourth, right behind the harmony signs. Its best run covers August 8 to October 7.
Rank 5 of 12Snake in 2027Relation to the yearNot in Tai SuiBest monthsSeptember 8 to October 7January 6, 2028 to February 3, 2028Hardest monthNovember 7 to December 6
WhyThe Snake is fifth because 巳 and the year stem 丁 are both fire: company rather than support, just behind the Dragon. Its month from August 8 to September 7 joins a Six Harmony to a punishment and a destruction, so it counts as mixed rather than simply good.
Rank 6 of 12Tiger in 2027Relation to the yearNot in Tai SuiBest monthsJune 6 to July 6October 8 to November 6Hardest monthAugust 8 to September 7
WhyThe Tiger is sixth: it has no tie to 未, and its wood feeds the year's fire, a giving relation that ranks below support and shared fire. Its calendar has two high points, June 6 to July 6 and October 8 to November 6, and one hard month, August 8 to September 7.
Rank 7 of 12Rooster in 2027Relation to the yearNot in Tai SuiBest monthsApril 5 to May 5May 6 to June 5January 6, 2028 to February 3, 2028Hardest monthMarch 6 to April 4
WhyThe Rooster and the Monkey are level on the first two steps: neither has a tie to 未, and the year's fire works on the metal of both. The third step settles it, because 酉 is a Noble Helper branch of 丁, traditionally a sign of timely help from others. The Rooster takes seventh place.
Rank 8 of 12Monkey in 2027Relation to the yearNot in Tai SuiBest monthsApril 5 to May 5December 7 to January 5, 2028Hardest monthFebruary 4 to March 5
WhyThe Monkey is eighth, level with the Rooster until the Noble Helper step, which it lacks. Its hardest month comes first: February 4 to March 5, when the Tiger month clashes 申 as the year opens. After that the calendar settles, with support from April 5 to May 5.
Rank 9 of 12Goat in 2027Relation to the yearOwn branch (本命)Own year (值太岁)Best monthsMarch 6 to April 4June 6 to July 6November 7 to December 6Hardest monthJanuary 6, 2028 to February 3, 2028
WhyThe Goat sits below every sign without a tie because its own year counts as 值太岁 in the Tai Sui tradition, a year of exposure rather than harmony. It still ranks above the three signs with friction, since 未 does not punish itself. Its hardest month is the last, January 6 to February 3, 2028.
Rank 10 of 12Rat in 2027Relation to the yearSix Harm (六害)Harm (害太岁)Best monthsApril 5 to May 5August 8 to September 7January 6, 2028 to February 3, 2028Hardest monthJune 6 to July 6
WhyThe Rat is tenth: 子 and 未 form a Six Harm (六害), a single relation with friction, lighter under this rule than the double ties of the Dog and the Ox. Its calendar ends well, because the final month, January 6 to February 3, 2028, forms a Six Harmony with 子.
Rank 11 of 12Dog in 2027Relation to the yearPunishment (刑)Destruction (破)Punishment (刑太岁)Destruction (破太岁)Best monthsFebruary 4 to March 5March 6 to April 4June 6 to July 6Hardest monthApril 5 to May 5
WhyThe Dog carries two ties with the year, a punishment (刑) and a destruction (破), which place it eleventh. The year's fire does feed its earth, but the element step only orders signs within a group, and the Dog is alone in its group. Its first two months, February 4 to April 4, are among its best.
Rank 12 of 12Ox in 2027Relation to the yearSix Clash (六冲)Punishment (刑)Clash (冲太岁)Punishment (刑太岁)Best monthsMay 6 to June 5September 8 to October 7December 7 to January 5, 2028Hardest monthJuly 7 to August 7
WhyThe Ox is twelfth as the only sign that clashes with the year, 丑 against 未, and it also shares the 丑未戌 punishment. Its hardest month, July 7 to August 7, repeats the clash. Twelfth place measures how much change the year pushes onto the Ox, not how the year turns out.

Dates are China Standard Time (UTC+8), the Ba Zi convention. Far from China a month can begin a calendar day earlier or later.

What the ranking measures

Luck here means one thing: how the year's branch 未 and stem 丁 meet your sign's branch. The rest of a birth chart matters too: a 1973 Water Ox meets a stem clash (丁癸) on top of the branch clash, while a 1997 Fire Ox shares the year's 丁 stem.

A full Four Pillars chart, with the day and hour of birth, can lift a low place or temper a high one, so read the ranking as a year-level starting point. The months are the practical part: every sign has supportive months, the Ox included.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Chinese zodiac will be lucky in 2027?

The Horse, the Rabbit and the Pig are the most supported signs of 2027. The Horse forms the Goat year's only Six Harmony (午未), and the Rabbit and the Pig share the wood triad 亥卯未 with it. Among the signs with no tie to 未, the Dragon does best, because the year's fire feeds its earth.

What is the luckiest zodiac sign in 2027?

The Horse ranks first. Its branch 午 pairs with the year branch 未 in a Six Harmony, the closest tie any sign has with the Fire Goat year. Its three supportive months are February 4 to March 5, July 7 to August 7 and October 8 to November 6.

Which zodiac signs are unlucky in 2027?

No sign is unlucky outright, but four meet friction with the year and offend Tai Sui: the Ox (twelfth), the Dog (eleventh), the Rat (tenth) and the Goat (ninth). The Ox has the only clash, 丑 against 未. Each of the four still has supportive months, and a full chart can soften the picture.

Why do rankings of the 2027 signs disagree?

Most rankings do not state a rule, so the order reflects the writer's impressions. Some also mislabel relations: a few call 2027 a harmony year for the Tiger, whose Six Harmony partner is the Pig, although the classical tables show no tie between 寅 and 未. This page prints its rule and applies it evenly.
