What We Collect

When you use our Service, we may collect the following information:

  • Birth date and birth time — required to calculate your Chinese Zodiac sign, Four Pillars (Ba Zi) chart, and Western zodiac sign. This information is stored to provide you with accurate horoscope readings and personalized features.
  • Name and email address — collected when you create an account via Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, or Email Magic Link. Used to identify your account and communicate with you about the Service.
  • Authentication data — we use third-party authentication providers (Google, Apple, Facebook, and email-based magic links) to verify your identity. We receive limited profile information from these providers (name, email, avatar) as authorized by you during sign-in.
  • IP address and approximate location — collected on login to determine your country for localization purposes. We use MaxMind GeoLite2 for IP-based country lookup. We do not track precise geolocation.
  • Timezone and locale — collected to display dates and times correctly for your region.
  • Payment information — processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, CVC, or full card details on our servers. We retain only transaction references (payment intent IDs, amounts paid) for order history.
  • Usage analytics — we use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool, to understand how visitors use our site. Umami does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track users across websites.

How We Use Your Information

We do not sell or rent your personally identifiable information to any third party. We may, however, use certain information about you that is not personally identifiable.

We use your information to:

  • Calculate and display your Chinese Zodiac sign, Four Pillars chart, daily horoscope readings, and personalized reports
  • Enable social features such as connecting with friends and comparing zodiac signs
  • Process report purchases via Stripe
  • Send you service notifications related to your account
  • Improve the Service based on aggregated, anonymized usage patterns

You understand and agree that we may access, preserve, and disclose any information we may have about you and the contents of your account if required to do so by law or in a good faith belief that such access, preservation or disclosure is reasonably necessary to avoid liability, to comply with legal process, such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, or court order, or to protect our rights and property, or that of our affiliates or the public.

Cookies

The Service uses cookies to improve the quality of our service and make it easier to use. The cookies we use include:

  • Authentication cookies — managed by Supabase to maintain your login session
  • Sign cookies (czh-sign, czh-element, czh-birth-date, czh-polarity) — store your zodiac sign information so you can receive personalized content without signing in
  • Referral cookie (czh-ref) — tracks referral links for 30 days to attribute signups to the friend who shared the link
  • Preference cookies — store UI preferences such as dismissed prompts

We do not use third-party tracking cookies. Our analytics tool (Umami) is cookie-free.

Children Under The Age Of 13

Chinese Zodiac Horoscope does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 13 or knowingly allow such persons to register. If you are under 13, please do not attempt to register or send any information about yourself to us. No one under age 13 may provide any personal information to or on the Service. In the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13 we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us.

Children Between The Ages of 13 and 18

We recommend that minors over the age of 13 ask their parents for permission before sending any information about themselves to anyone over the Internet.

Controlling Your Personal Information

Be advised that if you send messages or post material containing personal information, that information may be collected and used by others.

You can terminate your account at any time by contacting us. Upon account termination, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it. You may also request deletion of your data at any time by emailing us.

Data Retention

We retain your account information and zodiac profile data for as long as your account is active. Purchased report data is retained indefinitely to allow you to access reports you have paid for. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except for anonymized analytics data and any data we are legally required to retain.

Security

Ectosoft takes appropriate precautions to protect our users' information. Your account information is located on secured servers. All data transmission between your browser and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure. Because email and instant messaging are not recognized as secure communications, we request that you not send private information to us by email or instant messaging services.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
